  1. RICH Electronics and DAQ J.C.Wang Syracuse University CLEO Meeting, 08/21/99 Chip Carrier Short Cable Transition Board Long Cable Data Board Crate

  2. Outline RICH Hardware: • VA-RICH chip carrier • Data board • Cables, transition board, and cabling • Crate and other electronic cards (CPU card, TIM, Pulser board, SBUS controller & Power monitor board, gcal board) Software: • DAQ • Monitor code • Calibration code

  3. RICH Data Board Main Features: • Differential Signal ADC • Bias voltage and current control • Parameter monitor (T, I, V) • Coherent noise subtraction, and data sparsification What we concern: • Precision of charge measurement • Short term fluctuation (noise performance) • Long term stability

  4. Performance of a Chain

  5. Status of RICH Data Board • 120 + boards are ready • Noise performace meet goal (Incoherent noise < 3 ADC counts) • High temperature oscillation of power supply solved • Analog board and digital board are mounted together

  6. RICH DAQ • Version 9902 used for cylinder test before the insertion • Crate information not in event tag • Beamtest data format and event tag • Version 9904 will be used for coming test • Gcal used, so wirepulse calibration is possible • Final event tag & close to final data format event tag • DB problem existing ( with more than two crates) • Final version 99xx • DB bug fixed • Finish date is uncertain

  7. RICH Monitor • Data board parameters (Bayar) • Power voltage, bias current and voltage, temperature • Code ready to get information, need graphic display and alarm • Raw data quality (Jian) • Number of hits, number of channel used in CM noise calculation, coherent noise, pulser height, etc • Code ready to get partial informations, more need to be done • Pass1 data quality (JC, or Tomasz) • Number of hits, pulse height, number of pads per track, number of cluster per track, Cherenkov angle distribution, etc • Not start yet • HV (Peter Thies) • Gas (Alex & Stephan) • TEA temperature, flow rate, N2 transparency, etc • Running

  8. RICH Calibration • Existing modes: • Normal mode (pedestal, noise) • Flash, Flash with hold • Single channel mode • Wirepulse mode • Parameters store in data base: • Pedestal, noise, dead channel, gain parameters • Unify the online and offline data base ?

  9. Summary • Hardware: • Chip carrier, CPU, and most electronic cards are ready, some need further work • Cabling nearly finish, test of part and whole cylinder will come soon • Software: • Need a lot of work

  10. VA-RICH Chip Carrier

  11. RICH Readout Hardware • VA-RICH chip carrier • Data board • Cables, transition board, and cabling • Crate and other electronic cards: CPU card, TIM, Pulser board, SBUS controller & Power monitor board, gcal board

  12. RICH Software • DAQ • Monitor • Calibration
