A classroom newsletter will be posted Friday for the following week stating objectives for the week and other important information • Please note we will be using a lot of technology in the classroom-pictures will be taken please refer to parent/student handbook.

  3. Children and parents are responsible for: • Daily Homework/Work Performance Folder(Mon.-Thurs.)There will be no homework on the weekends. Your child will be responsible for a reading and math sheet. Starting in Nov. writing homework will be added. It is very important to complete homework each night to reinforce what was learned in school and to get your child use to the homework routine. • You will know weekly how your child is doing by looking at behavior and progress chart found in folder each night. At the end of the 9 weeks a conference will be scheduled to review report card. There will be 3 scheduled conferences through out the year; however, conferences can be set up at anytime. • Children will also take part in classroom helpers-responsible for a job and Student of the Month ~independence is a key factor and beneficial to your child~

BEHAVIOR • Consistent throughout school • Different theme/format • All Stars- Homerun using a baseball diamond • Each child will start the day with a homerun. • Will regress back a base if rules are broken and each have a consequence • If I am contacting you at home on a continuous basis a conference will be set up with me. If behavior persists a referral to the office and we will conference with assistant principal • Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. It interferes with the learning process. • Each Homework Folder will have a behavior calendar. On each day you will know what base your child ran to or if they struck out. A smile face will show if your child had a great day. Parent will initial in box to show you have seen and talked with your child about their behavior. • 3rd base-2nd warning • 2nd –walk at playtime • 1st-timeout and email/note home • Back to home struck out-timeout call home

  5. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENTHappy Learning Environment • You will know weekly how your child is doing by looking at behavior and progress chart found in folder each night. At the end of the 9 weeks a conference will be scheduled to review report card. There will be 3 scheduled conferences through out the year; however, conferences can be set up at anytime. • Good Behavior is rewarded by a gem system. Each student will receive a gem at the end of the day who has kept their homerun. They each have their own good behavior pocket(like a wallet) and will shop with those gems at the end of the week in the treasure box store. *If you have any little toys around the house or would like to donate to our treasure box at any time; it would be greatly appreciated. Through out the day I will always be looking for wonderful behavior and giving tons of compliments and special rewards other than candy to promote healthy eating habits.

  6. Other Important Info • Early Release Days are scheduled for teachers to focus on student needs and communicate effective teaching strategies to benefit our children. Children will be dismissed on these days at 12:45p.m. Reminders of these days will be on the newsletter, behavior chart. • Keep your box tops and soup labels. If our class collects the most we will receive a prize. • Always remember to let me know if you have a change in address, phone number, emergency contact, etc. so I can keep records up to date. • Never send money without putting it in a labeled envelope • Any medicine your child may need to take in school, a form needs to be filled out in the office and approved. Never send medicine to school in your child’s book bag. • Always sign in! • Healthy Snack-individual child-hand out and online

Don’t Leave Without… • Bus Number? • Car Rider Number? • Daycare? • Check Special Day-Do not arrive before 8:45a.m. • Don’t forget to return papers • Room Mom • Technology form I look forward to working with you and your child this year! It is going to be a wonderful school year! Remember we are working together as a team!!!!
