MICE NEWS VC 162 LOTS OF THINGS HAPPENED! have arrived at RAL: -- EMR (see report today) -- AFC2 see pictures -- SS2 see pictures -- RF amplifier from Daresbury (see pictures) has been published -- emittance measurement paper has been passed -- Magnetic field mitigation review (see also MICE note 419) Tom Taylor et al endorsed decision to go ahead with Partial Return Yoke warned of potential forces to magnets (report is posted on indico page under my name) http://indico.cern.ch projects  MICE  field mitigation review have been burned -- HTS lead on SS1  magnet warm up, new leads in order (4 weeks) -- (not new) Decay solenoid had a burned cold lead: requires opening and surgery. to be repaired until February/April 2014

  2. Provisional MICE SCHEDULE update: June 2013 m Run date: STEP I EMR run Oct 2013 we are here! (possibly w/o field: Q2 2014) Q1 2015 to Q1 2016 STEP IV Under construction: STEPVI Target date Q3 2019 Step V run possible 2018 Slip since october 2012 = 2 months

  3. AFC2 at RAL John Cobb: “it looks just like #1” AFC1 did not pass the acceptance criteria and willbe sent back to Tesla

  4. RF amplifier from Daresbury First amplifier installed last week Simplified TIARA configuration accepted by RF group - powering into one load reduces stress on deadline and uses fewer components and decouples from mods to mezzanine floor. Waveguides and dummy load components received from UMISS last week Prefabricated water panel arrives from DL end next week Air system components are all here, Installation can begin after EMR run #2 (i.e. next week)
