  1. Acid Rain By: Kira Bowe

  2. Acid Rain • There are three different types of Acid Rain

  3. Sulphuric Acid • Governments have made efforts since the 1970s to reduce the release of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere because of Sulphuric acid rain, which can be harmful. • Sulfur dioxide is also produced by volcanic eruptions.

  4. Nitric Acid • Acid rain is caused by release of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, which react with the water molecules, and the water cycle causing Nitric acid rain. • Nitrogen oxides can also be produced naturally by lightning strikes

  5. Nitric

  6. Carbonic Rain • Carbonic Rain is the most common of the three, it is mostly caused my factory, car and waste pollution. • During the Rain cycle, the molecules collect little droplets of acid, giving normal rain an acidic PH of 5.6, slightly acidic. However, with the new signs of pollution, the molecules collect MORE, giving today’s rain a PH of 4.5

  8. Causes • The Causes for Acid Rain are: • Pollution • Cars • Factories • Burning Sites • Burning trash sites

  9. The Gases • The gases that are given are: • Carbon Monoxide • Sulphur dioxide • Nitrous Oxide

  10. The effects: • It pollutes water- which harms: • Plants • People • Animals • Buildings • Water Sources; Lakes, Streams, Fish • Aquatic Life

  11. POLLUTION • SO DO NOT POLLUTE, AND MAYBE WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE :)
