The solution:Stored Data Encryption • Oracle8i has a simple encrypt/decrypt interface (DBMS_OBFUSCATION_TOOLKIT) • DES (8.1.6) • Triple DES (2-key and 3-key) (8.1.7) • MD5 cryptographic checksum • Application must provide key generation, key management, recovery • Encryption keys must be stored somewhere (e.g., in a database file, on the OS) • Not difficult to provide secure encrypted data storage
