  2. Promoting the accession of developing countries( including countries with economies in transition) and LDCs on terms commensurate with their level of development and their ability to implement the obligations associated with WTO membership

  3. Assistance in the pre-, during accession and post-accession phases • Ownership of the accession process

  4. Although this assistance is demand driven, a needs assessment is carried out in terms of training needs- both in terms of the quality and quantity of the people that need training; areas of training; regulatory and legal reform needed; and general awareness of the rights and obligations of WTO membership, including the benefits of WTO membership.

  5. Technical and advisory missions to assist the beneficiaries in various stages of the accession process; assistance in preparation of accession-related documents, short term sectoral studies using national consultants; training in negotiating strategies; workshops; training in Geneva.
