  5. Aim • To enhance the proficiency of the port facility security team in controlling Ship & Shore Interface, maintaining contiguous zone security and responding to contingencies.

  6. Objectives • Participants will explain the appropriate measures to be taken, in accordance with security plan, to handle security incidents and list the actions to be taken, in accordance with procedures, when responding to security incidents..

  7. Desired Outcomes • Be familiar with ship & shore interface procedures • Know how to respond correctly to contingencies relating to ship & shore control and contiguous zone security. • Be able to carry out their duties relating to ship & shore control and contiguous zone security confidently. • Suggest changes or improvements to the security plan and procedures, if any

Scenario • The sharp and severe economic downturn has lead to high unemployment amongst the population and growing poverty situation. • The security situation has deteriorated with petty theft and robbery becoming more common. The robbery and thefts have affected both private homes as well as offices. The police has warned that the spate of crime is likely to increase and may even affect places that have security forces in place.
