  2. INTRODUCTION: • Plastic- made by polymerizing molecules of monomer materials derived from coal, petroleum or natural gas • The first known man made plastic -1862 -great international exhibition in London -Alexander Parkes • In Tamil Nadu, the government announced the plastic ban in 1 Jan 2019

  3. statistics • About 4 to 5 trillion plastic bags are manufactured every year • Out of 100 trillion, only 1% are recycled • About 1,oo,000 marine die every year • 1 million sea birds

  4. Why plastic is banned? • Plastics are Lethal • Non-bio degradable • Makes agricultural lands infertile • Remains 100 years & creates environmental pollution

Objectives of the study: • To Reduce the environmental impacts • To find out the influencing factors to the perception and practice of the consumers regarding plastic • To investigate the differences between the perception and practice of the consumers who are using plastic • Promoting a shift toward the use of reusable carryout bags by retail customers.

  10. Problem statement • As the government has banned plastic products, consumers and suppliers are suffering without plastic products such as plastic bags and the implementation of taxes on alternatives of green products is a current major problem.

  11. Scope of the study • The study helps in understanding the consumer’s attitude, preference and awareness towards the plastic ban . The study also aims to find the factors influencing the impact of the green products.

  12. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY An exploratory research design and a quantitative research approach have been undertaken in this research study. Secondary data were initially collected from books and the internet, and then a well-structured questionnaire was prepared for collecting the required primary data. There were two sections in the questionnaire which related to the characteristics of the respondents and the impact of the green marketing activities on their buying behavior. A number of close ended questions have been incorporated into the questionnaire.

  13. PERIOD OF STUDY The study was conducted for a period of 3month (December 2018- March 2019) AREA OF THE STUDY The study was conducted regarding the analysis of consumer’s attitude towards plastic ban and its impact on green marketing.

  14. DATA COLLECTION • convenience sampling method(non-probability sampling) • The samples have been drawn from 97 respondents.

  19. MEAN: Mean deviation is the arithmetic mean of the absolute deviation of the values about their arithmetic mean or median or mode. STANDARD DEVIATION: Standard deviation is the root mean square deviation of the values from their arithmetic mean

  21. conclusion • 80% of the total respondents supports the government’s initiative towards plastic ban. • 65% of the population agreed ban of plastic would improve environment condition and issues. • Nearly 50% of people using paper bags,35% of people plastic bags, and remaining reusable bags. • Nearly 90% of people rated 4 out of 5 regarding the government move on plastic ban.
