  3. New Masters ProgramOverview Letter of Intent (Campus) Governance Approval Letter of Intent (OAA) Initial OAA Review. Circulates for 30 days OAA Review Graduate Advisory Council OAA Approval Proposal (OAA) Governance Approval Proposal (Campus) OAA Approval Submit to CAPPR Sent to BOT For the next meeting BOT Approval Submit new courses to CUR for approval the next month after BOT approval You may now advertise and enroll Students Program registered by NYSED Sent to NYSED

  4. Step 1: Letter of Intent Purpose and Goals Need Letter of Intent Students Curriculum (Note if Master Plan or Charter Amendment is needed) Faculty Cost Assessment

  5. Step 2: Letter of Intent to Proposal Submit to Faculty Governance At your college. It is either approved or you must make reviews and then it is approved Letter of Intent (For a PhD Program, the LOI is presented to CAPPR In the same manner as the Proposal) Send LOI to the EVC of OAA with A copy to the Director of Program Review, Articulation And Transfer Include 2 PDF copies on 2 CD’s. Following a preliminary review, it is sent to all the Presidents of the CUNY colleges. Circulate for 30 day review Collate reviews and resubmit to EVC Send to GAC They make recommendations. You make reviews. After you have approval from the EVC (in the form of a formal response) You may officially begin your proposal

Purpose and Goals Step 3:Proposal Need and Justification Include letters from potential employers if applicable or available Also include sample job postings Students Include copy of any survey Proposal Curriculum With attached Forms Course Content and Requirements With attached Syllabi for New and Revised courses and catalog description of old courses As well as Sample Program Scheduling Form If needed Include Master Plan or Charter Amendment With Appropriate Forms Faculty With attached SED Faculty Assignment Form Plus applicable CV’s (max of 2 pages) Cost Assessment With attached Forms: Projected Expenditures for the Proposed Program Projected Revenue Related to for the Proposed Program Projected Capital Expenditures for the Proposed Program Additional Attachments Include Two Evaluations

  7. Step 4: Proposal to CAPPR Submit to Faculty Governance at your college. Proposal Submit draft to OAA Submit proposal to OAA Remember to keep the CAPPR deadline in mind. Send the proposal to OAA with time to receive suggested revisions and for you to make edits ready for CAPPR’s meeting OAA requests changes OAA Approves Make the changes and Resubmit to OAA Send 55 copies to CAPPR Include 2 PDF copies on 2 CD’s

Step 5: CAPPR to NYSED CAPPR considers proposal and gives Approval (Check with OAA to see how far in advance you must send this in to be placed on the CAPPR Agenda) (3-4 weeks later) Presented to the full Board of Trustees For their next meeting, which is approximately every two months After the BOT approval. Proposal is sent to SED Submit new courses to CUR for approval the next month after BOT approval The SED reviews proposal (Can take two months or up to six months) NYSED Approves, registers Program, Issues registration code and sends registration Letter SED may ask for clarification or additional information Your new program has been approved and registered! You may now advertise and enroll students.
