Welcome to Calverley. Leeds & Bradford Airport. Calverley is in the county West Yorkshire which is in the north of England. Our school Calverley Parkside is inbetween Victoria street and Thornhill street and next to the park. Our school was built in 1900 there fore it is 113 years old.

  1. Welcome to Calverley

  2. Leeds & Bradford Airport Calverley is in the county West Yorkshire which is in the north of England.

  3. Our schoolCalverley Parksideis inbetween Victoria street and Thornhill street and next to the park.

  4. Our school was built in 1900 there fore it is 113 years old. It has been extended to fit seven classrooms, a library and two computer rooms. In the playground we can play ball games like netball, dodgeball and football. We also have a trim trail and plant boxes.

  5. Conservative Club Opposite the school is the Conservative Club which can be hired for parties and other occasions. The Conservative Club is also hired by Elev8 Dance company for classes such as street dance, cheerleading and ballet. Thornhill Street This is one of the longest streets in Calverley with some of the friendliest neighbours. The type of house is a terrace. The houses join each other at the side.

  6. Things to find on Thornhill Street Some of the houses have very interesting garden ornaments. This building is called the Mechanics Institute and was built in 1874. It is used as a theatre and a community hall.

  7. Calverley Fish Shop serves freshly cooked fish and chips at lunch time and tea time. Calverley Library was built in 1973. The library was originally in the Mechanics Institute building.

  8. These Georgian houses were built in the 1700s. This is St Wilfred’s church. Some parts of the building are dated from 1154.

  9. This is the main street through Calverley. It passes St Wilfred’s Church, the park and the post office. One way goes to Leeds, the other way goes to Bradford.

  10. The Methodist Church was built in 1872. The park gates lead to the entrance of Victoria park. The post office is also the local shop.

  11. At the main entrance to the park there is - a map of the park, a memorial statue, and an edible flower bed!

  12. In the park we can play football, cricket, crown green bowls, tennis and boules (petangue).

  13. Walking through the park will bring you to Salisbury Street. Salisbury Street has terrace houses too. Some are very big and one house has butterflies on it!

  14. Victoria Street has some very interesting houses. A more modern style bungalow, a pair of 1930’s built semi-detached houses, and a pair of Victorian semi-detached houses all next to each other!

  15. Victoria Street also has the best place in the whole of Calverley … our school!
