  2. Birth and Early Childhood • Molly Pitcher was born with the name Mary Hays. • She was born in the 1750s, in the state of Pennsylvania. • Her full name was Mary Ludwig Hays McCauley.

  3. Young Adult • Mary got married in 1769 to William Hays. • Mary went to camps near battle sites to help the wounded soldiers. • Mary helped the soldiers by bringing them water.

  4. Accomplishments and Death • Mary saved her husband William from dyeing. • She was known as Molly Pitcher because she brought pitchers of water to the soldiers. • Mary died in 1832, they put a statue up of her to honor her.
