  1. Integer Football Welcome to Integer Football! It’s the POSITIVES versus the NEGATIVES. Move the football player along the football field to demonstrate addition of positive and negative integers. A completed pass or run for positive yards gets the POSITIVES closer to the 50 unit line where they will win the game. A tackle for a loss or a fumble brings the POSITIVES closer to the -50 unit line where the NEGATIVES will win the game. Print off the offensive and defensive plays on the third slide and cut them out. Have students choose one at a time. Check out the tips on the second slide for setting up the game.

  2. TIPS Printing only one slide: Be sure to choose ‘slides’ in the Print Dialogue box after clicking ‘File’, ‘Print’. Don’t run the show in ‘Slideshow’ mode – you won’t be able to move the football player up and down the field! To make the slide as big as possible, remove your ‘TOOLBARS’. Go to the ‘View’ menu, click on ‘Toolbars’, and click on each item that has a check mark next to it to ‘hide’ that toolbar. Remove the ‘SLIDE SORTER’ on the left hand side of the screen by clicking on the ‘x’ in the top right corner of the pane.

  3. The positives complete a pass for 30 units! The negatives make a tackle for a loss of 20 units. The positives run the ball for 16 units. The negatives make a tackle for a loss of 12 units. The positives run the ball for 4 units. The negatives make a tackle for a loss of 8 units. The positives pass the ball for 12 units. The positives complete a pass for 18 units. The positives fumble the ball and lose 22 units. The positives complete a pass for 24 units! The negatives make a tackle for a loss of 6 units. The positives run the ball for 8 units. The negatives make a tackle for a loss of 20 units. The positives run the ball for 14 units. The positives fumble the ball and lose 4 units.

  4. The positives complete a pass for 22 units, then the receiver runs backwards and loses 6 units! The negatives intercept the pass and run the ball for 30 units, then they fumble the ball and the positives gain 12 units.
