  1. My Action Plan Julie Whynacht EDPD 581 July 10, 2008 “We are coming to understand that a learner’s true ability lies at the junction of his or her personal capabilities and the capabilities afforded by available learning media” (Teaching Every Student, Rose & Meyer, 2002).

  2. Personally …. Continue to become more flexible in my teaching style and educational curriculum Continue my passion for learning new things Continue to become confident with technology and areas I have not had a lot of experience in How will I continue to grow?

  3. Make learning accessible to all students Help challenge the barriers that many students face in school (ie. challenge the “one-size-fits all” approach). Use assistive technology to further individualize my teaching Professionally…..

  4. …. When I am back on the job…. • I will incorporate the UDL to engage all learners (with the awareness of the variety of student needs) – using many of the technological gifts I learned this week • Approach teaching with a new understanding of the major role I play in the success of each student’s learning abilities • Become involved with the technological training of fellow staff – for example using Wiki, Boardmaker and other programs on a school-wide basis

  5. Hopes I would like to share with Staff, Parents and Colleagues: • Staff and Colleagues: I will share: • the large variety of tools and resources available that I have learned about • the various teaching methods and the tools to enhance each of the learning styles • the ease in developing and using assistive technology in the classroom • the benefits of incorporating the Universal Design for Learning in the classroom • the support available through Sets B.C. and other programs throughout the province and districts • Parents: I will: • share the wealth of resources available and where to find them • explain the support that is available beyond the classroom • offer the caring and understanding that each unique child deserves • model that the school system can, and should, focus on the needs of each student

  6. The impact on my district/going beyond the classroom……. Speak about and share what I have learned with my administration, fellow teachers and support staff Work to implement a plan to network and connect my school to resources within and outside of the district Work with colleagues to build a sharing environment and make resources accessible to all Be an advocate to bring more technology to the district – through further funding and the introduction of much needed training to use the assistive technology

  7. The extensive list of “FREE Resources from the Net” Kurzweil Wiki Talking Books Interactive websites Powerpoint Rubistar!!!! Tools that will make a BIG difference in my World -

  8. Learning about the vast amount of information and resources that are available if you know where to look • The idea that the overall goal of education is to keep learning multifaceted and minimize BARRIERS that students experience • MAXIMIZING LEARNING THROUGH FLEXIBILITY My biggest AHA moment: It’s a mistake not to give people a chance to learn to depend on themselves while they are young.- Walt Disney
