  1. PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR JAW PAIN www.noveraheadachecenter.com

  2. PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR JAW PAIN RELIEF? We all know that physical therapists treat the musculoskeletal system - bones, joints and muscles. So that includes knees, backs, shoulders . . . and jaws? That’s right. The Temporomandibular Joint, better known as TMJ, is the hinge joint immediately in front of the ear on each side that connects the lower jaw to the temporal bone of the skull. The TMJ opens and closes the mouth, as well as slides back and forth. Think about it: every time you eat, talk, sing, yawn, gape, chew on something, kiss, set your jaw sternly, or just kind of idly move your mouth, you’re using your TMJ.

  3. TEETH GRINDING AND CLENCHING Many people grind or clench their teeth while they sleep or at times of emotional stress. This is also known as bruxism. It can lead to significant tooth damage and jaw pain.

  4. OUR CLINIC IS LOCATED IN COLORADO SPRINGS Colorado which means we are at an average altitude of 6,035ft elevation. Many of our patients find that their headaches are accompanied by ear pain and jaw pain, especially after travelling home from another state at a lower elevation. High altitudes can exacerbate temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder symptoms - like jaw popping or stiffness, jaw and face pain, difficulty chewing, problems opening or closing your mouth, grinding at night, and even earaches - so if you are experiencing these symptoms while living in Colorado, you are not alone.

  5. TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDER

  6. JAW PAIN SYMPTOMS • Pain or tenderness of your jaw • Pain in one or both of the temporomandibular joints • Aching pain in and around your ear • Difficulty chewing or pain while chewing • Aching facial pain • Locking of the joint, making it difficult to open or close your mouth TMJ disorders can also cause a clicking sound or grating sensation when you open your mouth or chew.
