  1. Mumbai Indians will be hard to beat again, says Sunil Gavaskar Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has recently said that Mumbai Indians (MI) is the favourites to win the Indian Premier League trophy this season as well. They are currently the two-time defending champions and also have a very strong team that comprises the Indian and international players as well. “I think Mumbai Indians will be hard to beat. We have seen their players coming to form. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, the way they batted. Mumbai Indian players, who took part in this T20I series and ODI series [vs England], have shown they are in good form,” Gavaskar said while speaking on Star Sports. While Mumbai Indians’ bowling line-up is led by India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and New Zealand’s fierce Tent Boult, they have a power-packed batting order as well which is led by none other than Team India’s limited-over vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Alongside him, there are Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar yadav and a few more as well.

  2. Moreover, this season Mumbai Indians will get the service of all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the bowling department. He was out of bowling ever since his back surgery a couple of years back. Even, he did play as a batsman for Mumbai in the last season as well. But, the right-armer has recently returned to bowling and bowled 17 overs in the recently-concluded T20 International series against England that India won by 3-2 as well. He also bowled a nine-over spell in the third and the decider ODI that was economical too and played an important role in helping India clinch the series too. “The way Hardik Pandya has come to the party not just for Mumbai Indians, it was important for Indian cricket to see him bowl nine overs. It means he is ready to play nine overs. It (the World Test Championship final) is going to be in June, there is still time for that but the way he has come back is very good for Mumbai and Indian cricket,” Gavaskar concluded.
