  1. WINDING SYSTEMS FOR SEGMENTED MOTORS

  2. Historical References Sipro linear multispindle winding machines have been used over many years to produce water pumps and fan motors. Special tools allowed also to wind some stators with external poles.

  3. New developments in motor design (segmented motors) have caused many changes: • Motors are smaller and have higher performances • If the windings of the motor are all separate (one per segment with 2 contacts each and no wire connecting 2 different segments) the multispindle winding technology can be easily used. • If more segments are connected by the same wire without interruptions (pole chains) flyer winding or interpolated needle winding becomes the solution. In all cases the final motor is obtained by assembling single segments or pole chains and by connecting the wire leads.

  4. Single segments Pole chains Slotted Stators Single segments are wound by rotating the coilformers with or without laminations. This is the optimal winding technology regarding fill factor / speed / damages to insulation. Pole chains are wound either with the flyer winding technology (rotating wireguide) or, if the single segments need to be very close to each other, with interpolated needle winding technology. Besides these newest developments we also offer the traditional needle winding technology for stators with laminations obtained from one single part.

  5. Complete winding and assembly systems Besides the winding technology Sipro offers also a complete range of assembly solutions for the complete motor assembly.

  7. solutions • Single spindle winding machine • Multispindle winding machines with rotating spindles • Multilevel flyer winders • Interpolated needle winding

  8. TWM / 01 • The single spindle winding machine can be used to wind either single motor segments or whole pole chains with the help of one operator • Low volumes • Low investment • Easy to use • Flexible

  9. MULTISPINDLE WINDING • Wind, contact and test single motor segments • Flexible solution for a wide variety of different motor specs • The production rate can be easily adapted to the customers requirements

  10. MMS / MBT / 04 – 160 • Typical wire diameter from 0.20 to 2.00 mm copper wire. • Electric connection by inserting 2 IDCs (after winding) or welding • Stack height from 25 to 125 mm or more • On the following page you will find the detailed operations of one machine and its layout
