Overview of Transfer Process • Attend a Cross-Campus Transfer Info Session • Meet with an LSA Academic Advisor • Call 764-0332 to make an appointment • Fill out a Progress Towards Degree worksheet • Discuss educational plans in LSA • Submit your signed and stamped application to Carolyn McCullum in LSA SAA

  4. Transfer Eligibility • 2.0 cumulative GPA • 2.0 GPA last term • Completed two terms in original admitting unit (one term for external transfers) • Applying no later than a month before the application term • Less than 90 credits (CTP)*

LSA Degree Requirements • LSA offers four different degrees • Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) • Bachelor in General Studies (B.G.S.) • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry – 124 crs (B.S. Chem) • Minimum of 120 credits needed to graduate, including at least 100 LSA credits • You need a GPA of 2.0 or better in both your concentration and overall

  6. LSA Degree Requirements cont… • First Year Writing Requirement (FYWR) • Upper Level Writing Requirement (ULWR) • Race and Ethnicity (R&E) • Quantitative Reasoning (QR/1 or QR/2) • 4th term proficiency in one language other than English (C- or better).

LSA Degree Requirements cont… Distribution – Part I Distribution – Part II • Natural Science (NS) – 7 credits • Humanities (HU) – 7 credits • Social Science (SS) – 7 credits • 9 additional credits in 3 of 5 areas • Natural Science (NS) • Social Science (SS) • Humanities (HU) • Math and Symbolic Analysis (MSA) • Creative Expression (CE) • Interdisciplinary (ID) Can do 0, 3, 6, 9 in this area

Common Credit Transfer Issues • General: Only 20 non-LSA credits can be used towards the 120 needed for an LSA degree • Coming from Engineering • Students will lose any language credits based on placement exam. However, students may be eligible for retroactive credits. • ENGR 100 does not satisfy FYWR • LSA grants credit for MATH 105 and SWC 100 • AP Standards general more generous in LSA (e.g. for AP Physics)

Common Credit Transfer Issues • Coming from Kinesiology • Many courses post as “Not for Credit” in LSA • Consult list on p. 7 of LSA Bulletin for courses that post as non-LSA credit. • Coming from Music, Theatre, and Dance • Ensemble courses typically yield non-LSA credit, but no honor points. • Consult list on pp. 32-43 of LSA Bulletin for course that post as LSA credit.
