  1. Issues in the AIA/ASD Suite of ILS Standards Inputs to the KoM of the ILS Handbook R. SomozaAirbus Military

  2. Logistic Support Analysisactivities Order admini- stration Provisioningdata Logs matand data LSAdata Operationaldata Pro-visioning Equipment identificationdesign data Design of systems and support equipment In service use S2000M Technical Publi-cations S3000L S4000M Designdata S1000D Overview of ILS standards Operational and maintenance data feedback – S5000F IP DataSubsets IETM, other media

  3. Global process unclear. “Ideal” ILS process is in practice impossible, but no room for parallel development (e.g., S3000L, S2000M and S1000D work) due to lack of synchronization mechanisms. Feedback relationship and orchestration (S1000D, S2000M, S5000F) unclear. Different business rules / criteria / formats (e.g., for applicability) No common data model. No common glossary or data dictionary. No real data integration – specifications are separate “silos”. No global / transversal view. Different product structures. Parallel evolution of different specifications, without coordination / configuration (“mixability” of specification versions?) Computational problems not considered (e.g, required parsing of applicability) Implementation costs of the specifications, cost of evolution Interfaces between specifications are bilateral – “explosion” of interfaces, circular relationships and coherence problem (e.g., S1003X+S1002X=S2003X?). Main issues on ILS Suite of Specifications(1/2)

  4. No common data exchange mechanisms. Exchange not part of the suite of specifications. Exchange of data of a SAME specification (e.g., between supplier & prime contractor) unclear, except for S2000M. Formal relationship with OASIS – Are the A&D DEXes formally endorsed by AIA/ASD? How is the evolution of these DEXes controlled? By whom? DEX implementation guidelines (e.g., for SOA) not established globally. No specification/cross-specification Implementor forums Civil/military convergence? (currently only used massively for S1000D) Use of ILS in civilian programs Need for specific annexes (e.g., domain-specific)? Standard integrated data delivery format (e.g., for maintenance systems)? Relationship with ATA beyond S1000D? (e.g., S4000M, Spec2000) Main issues on ILS Suite of Specifications(2/2)
