Initial Planning & Coordination • Initial Plan Shelf-Ready Project Processing 200 titles during Fall/Winter 2005 and concluding in Spring 2006 • Major obstacles: • Interdepartmental coordination in Yale Libraries • Profile requirements for applicable materials • RLIN library using OCLC • Other major projects in East Asia Library
Guidelines & Procedure • Project Guidelines (4 p. English & Japanese translation + supplemental documents for Yale’s local practice) • Profile requirements • Yale’s local practices • Post-cataloging preparations • Communication (Email in Japanese; shipment takes 2 weeks) • Actual Testing Procedure
Issues & Progress • No automatic upload from OCLC • OCLC authorization • Yale’s labeling standard • Subject analysis • Authority work • Delay of shipment Currently processed 30 titles out of 200 since Dec. 2005.
Future • Hope to complete the project and final analysis at the end of this summer • Might explore the possibility to expand the target material profile
