Teamwork: Brokers/Navigators/Certified Assistance Counselors • Channel most consumers and employers purchase health insurance through • Licensed and regulated by state authority • Must be certified by CMS to enroll consumers in Individual Marketplace • Experienced with marketing and outreach When individuals or families don’t qualify for Medicaid, consider referring them to a Broker for assistance in reviewing their plan options.

Teamwork: Brokers/Navigators/Certified Assistance Counselors • Have expertise in one or more specific market segments – i.e. individuals, Medicare, small employers, etc. • Make coverage recommendation for consumers and employers based on needs analysis • Educate consumers, employers and employees about coverage and plan provisions • Acts as advocate when claim problems and coverage issues occur • Assist consumers and businesses meet the compliance requirements of ACA • Many brokers further their knowledge / expertise by obtaining advanced certifications & designations
