  5. What is HSS? Honor Society for Sustainability Aspiring to be a National Honors Society A source of growing interest for many across the country who believe in sustainability

  6. Who does HSS serve? Members of the sustainability community Undergraduates Graduates Alumni Professional and Honorary Members

  7. Our Mission To foster a network of sustainability scholars who have demonstrated academic excellence and are committed to solving global sustainability challenges

  8. Our Vision We envision a future where sustainable practices are a reality in global society. Through personal responsibility and commitment, we will further economic development, advance social justice, and foster environmental stewardship. Our actions will transform the future.

  9. Reaching our goals • Foster network and empower members for success • Recognize achievements • Stimulate a dialogue • Sustainability application • Contribute to the lives of others

  10. History of HSS September and October 2011- Ideas for HSS are generated by the original founders November 2011- Idea pitched to the Dean of the School of Sustainability December 2011- Plans for membership begin and initial budget is released

  11. History of HSS January-February 2012- Event planning continues March 2012- First official HSS members join as HSS becomes an ASU organization April 20, 2012- Inaugural HSS banquet occurs and the first 20 members are initiated

  12. HSS Today We have 25 members at ASU and continue to grow We have three events including a career event, an alumni mixer, and the annual banquet We have received contact from from other educational institutions regarding the expansion of HSS

  13. The Future of HSS Determined upon the involvement of student leaders, alumni, and advisers
