  2. Give me the definition of these terms • Movement • Conservation Energy (Con-ser-va-tion) • Catapults • Elastic Potential Energy • Kinetic Energy (ki-ne-tic)

  3. Definitions • Movement- the act, process, or result of moving. • Conservation of Energy- is a force from inside of the system. • Catapults- a weapon used in ancient times. • Elastic Potential Energy-energy of an elastic motion. • Kinetic Energy- the energy of a body or a system with respect to the motion of the body or of the particles in the system.

  4. Toys that store up energy • Yo-Yo • Car • Come-Back-Can • Yo-Yo • Car • Come-Back-Can

  5. Assembly and demonstration of a Come-Back-Can • Tie a hex nut in the middle of a rubber band • Put a paper clip on both ends of the rubber band • Put one end of the rubber with the paper clip through the hole in the lid and the other end through the hole at the bottom of the jar • Put the lid on the jar • Roll the can (jar) away from you on the floor or on a long table and watch it return back to you, when you call it, after it stops rolling, (Just say “come back can”.

  6. Team Work • Divide the class in to 5 groups or 3 less • Pass out the Come-Back-Can Kit to the students • The teams will construct and demonstrate their Come-Back-Can Science Project Experiment

  7. Assessment • Class assignment sheets hand-out • Answer all the questions in a complete sentence. • Review/questions • Distribute Home Assignment Sheets • Dismissal of class

  8. CLASS DISMISSAL • Give out a Lesson Plan to all my classmates • Give out the Critique/Evaluation Form • Collect all the kits
