Reflections of a Dev Math Instructor Favorite reasons for having a Dev Ed counselor: • In-house location is very convenient for students and instructors. • Students build a relationship of trust with the counselor. • Since the counselor sees a smaller, specific population of students, there are higher odds that she may have personal insight about your students.

Reflections of a Dev English Instructor Favorite reasons for having a Dev Ed counselor: • Counselor is seen in the building on a regular basis, thus reminding everyone that she is only a few steps away. • Having a counselor in close proximity makes it easier to deal with in-class “breakdowns.” • The open door policy makes students and instructors feel more welcome.
