  3. Katie Metclafe • Suffered with anorexia from age 14-19 before anyone noticed. • “As I began to lose weight I started to feel that life was worth living again. At last I seemed to be achieving at something.”

  4. The media has us raveled up in its web • The media refers to what we are exposed to, such as advertisements, magazines, and social media. • Everyday we view over 5,000 advertisement • Roughly ten percent is an advertisement for personal care/beauty products or weight loss

  5. “Thinspiration” • Web sites that praise and promote eating disorders and offer tips on how to hide the side effects.

  6. Web sites such as this have been rapidly increasing and ravaging the self esteem of upcoming generations

  7. Symptoms • Refusal to eat and a denial of hunger • An intense fear of gaining weight • Flat mood, lack of emotion, or social withdrawal • Dry skin • Abdominal pain
