NFPA 1600 Standard for Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs – 2004 Edition “We are also building a foundation on which the private sector can take important steps to improve their readiness. 7. NFPA 1600 Standard for Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs – 2004 Edition …These standards encourage mutual respect, cooperation, and open communication – essential elements of our national approach to readiness. They are just one tool – but an important one – in our effort to make our country more secure.” DHS Secretary Ridge’s Testimony before the 9/11 Commission (pg.12).
