Learning from experience • Looked to the past to discover what questions needed to be answered • What measures are in place to ensure that donors and recipients attend with suitable evidence of identity? Can that be strengthened? • How are other units recruiting (and retaining) IAs? Has anyone else had recruitment problems? How have they been overcome? Does anyone else have a job description? • Are other units undertaking any audits of the IA process? • How do you approach the risks and consequences question when one live donation has failed? Should it be approached differently?
Looking to the future • Now a look to the future: the year ahead • Numbers of living transplants will increase • Increase in the number of IAs • New Case Management System (to replace the OSS) • Developments in transplantation options - Directed but no emotional or familial relationship? - Altruistic into a pool?
Factors for a successful year • What can we do to ensure this year is the best yet? • Use all the knowledge and insight shared today • Ask questions before a case is submitted • Ensure that you see the necessary evidence of the relationship and record this accurately – it is the only way we know! • Work with each other and share your experiences
Working together • How we can work together • Testing the new Case Management System • Updating the IA Bulletin • Constructive feedback on processes and systems • Being our eyes and ears on the ground
