Who is INCITS L1? • InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standard (INCITS) – is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop standards in the field of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). INCITS/L1, Geographic Information Systems is chartered with the development of Geographic Information/Geospatial Standards. INCITS/L1 serves as the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC211 – Geographic Information/Geomatics [191XX Standards]

The Standards “Foodchain” International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 211 Technical Committee XX American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Other ANSI Accredited Standards Bodies InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) Other ANSI Accredited Standards Bodies L1 Committee(GIS) L1 Member Organizations

Access Categories and Benefits • Voting • Votes on all matters of INCITS L1 to include INCITS National Projects and ISO TC211 Standards • Receives all documents distributed to members • May serve as US Delegate to ISO TC211 Plenary and Associated meetings • Unlimited number of representatives/delegates • Must attend INCITS L1 meetings (approx 8/year) and vote • $1200/year • Advisory • Receives all documents distributed to members • Does not vote, serve on US delegations, or hold officer positions, and is not required to attend L1 meetings • $1200/year • Friends of the Committee

  6. INCITS L1 Members • Voting – ACSM, ASPRS, Bentley Systems, Bureau of Census*, DHS*, EPA*, ESRI, FGDC*, GMU, LMC, Oracle, NGA*, NGC, SeiCorp, USACE*, USGS* • Advisory – Defense Department, Intergraph Services, USDA FS* • FOC – * - FGDC existing member

  7. Who/What is an FOC? • Friends of the Committee (FOC) – “the basics” • Can observe INCITS L1 meetings • May receive copies of meeting notices, agendas and other public information • May receive copies of national drafts at Milestone 4 only, at no cost • Shall Not serve on US Delegations to ISO TC211 Plenary or associated meetings or hold any officer position • Shall Not vote on TC matters (formal or informal voting), at any time.
