  1. Team 3 Go Kart for Shane BrahmatejMekaRaymond SongerJeff Marcelus Shane Davis 6 sunrise drive, Columbia CT (954)-850-5448

  2. Actuators • Jeff completed the design and implementation of the brake actuator • Jeff and I were able to raise the seat with spacers in order to make room for the actuator controlling the brake pedal • The brake actuator pushes on the brake bracket while the gas actuator pulls a cable that in turn pulls the gas pedal forward

  3. Steering motor bracket • The steering motor needs to be mounted at a 30 degree angle forward so that it lines up with the steering column • The bracket will be directly mounted to the chassis of the go kart and the motor will then be mounted to the bracket at the appropriate angle

  4. Steering Bracket The drive shaft of the motor will be facing down the slope of the bracket

  5. Steering Motor Drive • The motor will control the steering via a chain and sprocket system • The motor and steering column will have the same size sprocket as the motor provide enough torque to turn the front wheels with a 1:1 ratio

  6. Sprocket and Chain

  7. Programming • Brahm has spent the past few weeks working on a preliminary c-code system using the tutorials available • By utilizing a protoboard he was able to simulate the steering portion of the code using the joystick and LED lights

  8. Protoboard/LED

  9. Programming Cont. • He was able to write a program that would cause an LED light to shine brighter the further the joystick was pushed forward • This is what will cause the go kart to accelerate in a linear, controlled fashion i.e. as more pressure is applied the go kart will accelerate faster

  10. Future Work • Sohail: Continue to develop a code that will fully control the movements of the go kart through a joystick • Jeff: Mount steering motor and chain/sprocket system • Raymond: Mount steering motor, begin designing/implementing wiring harness
