Achievements • Publications • Joint publication by iLabs partners: paper published in the ASEE Journal under the title “Collaborative Development of Remote Electronics Laboratories: The ELVIS iLab”. • The paper titled “Developing Online Laboratories for Modulation and Combinational Logic Circuit Analysis Using NI ELVIS II Platform” was submitted for peer review by the ITNG

  17. Achievements Acquisition of Equipment Generously Donated to iLABS@MAK by National Instruments

  18. Why iLabs?

  19. Rationale for iLabs • Inadequate, old equipment • Remote access to experiments- anytime anywhere • Challenges of staffing • Enhancement of research and projects • Documentation • Sharing of resources

  20. Students’ Response Histogram of Students’ Response to Theory Application Histogram of Students’ Response to How the Experiment Works

  21. Students’ Response Histogram for the Time to Run and Obtain Results of the Experiment Histogram for Group Size when Performing the Experiment

  22. Added Value-Faculty • An alternative experimentation platform for Electrical Eng, Telecom Eng and Computer Eng. • Collaboration with other Universities in research • Advocating for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership – The proposed National Remote Engineering Consortium

  23. Added Value-Developers • Technical and Organizational Skills • Exposure -Collaborative Development • Travel-Cross Cultural Benefits • Mentorship

  24. Future Prospects • Full incorporation into Curricula of EE Department by 2012 • Extension to other Faculties, Universities and Schools • Core role in NREC • More Publications
