  3. TOEFL(iBT) • Timing: Self-training English Language ability as early as possible (scores validation: 2 years) • Taking courses at Cram School ? • Test dates arrangements: online registration (1-2 M ahead) • Study strategy:

  5. Search for Fields of Study • Start searching ASAP • Fulfill pre-requisites requirements • Special requirements (ie interview, GPA and TOEFL for international students …) • Study program curriculum, length of study… • Future jobs possibility, assistance of university • Resources: NTU alumni society; Taiwanese/Asia Community in the university

  9. Search for Choices of Schools • Start searching ASAP • Location • Tuition and Scholarship • Ranking of your field of study • Size of the international community • Special requirements for international students (ie TOEFL, Financial document…) • Safety and other issues

  10. Curriculum Vitae • Educational background • Community service/ voluntary experiences • Work/internship experiences • Leadership/team work? • Academic scholarship/ awards? • Extracurricular activities/ awards? • Special experiences

Personal Statement/ Statement of Purpose • As an international student, we need to specify reasons why we want to study in “the” department/subject of “the” university • Any special family background/influence to your learning attitude or future goal • Read thoroughly the “Program” and try to include it into your statement will better impress the admission committee .

  12. Interviews • Tufts Cummings School of Vet Medicine • Oxford dept. of zoology, integrative bioscience • Search for information of interviewers • Preparing possible Q&A • Search on websites for peer group information • Practice, practice, practice

  13. Recommendation letters • Exchange experience vs recommendation • Professors related to your future field of study • 3 letters emphasizing your different strengths

  14. Graduate Schools I got in Columbia- Conservation Biology/ 1y Master Yale- Environmental Studies/ 2 y Master Oxford- Integrative Biosciences (with interview requirement)/ 1y Master

  15. Veterinary schools I got in • Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, Madison/ 4 y DVM (Doctor of Vet Medicine) • Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine (with interview requirement)/ 4 y DVM

  16. Decision Making • School visit, if possible • Consulting with mentors, parents… • Prospect of future job opportunity
