  1. Simulator Testing Using New Automated Tools from GSE Robert Soderholm – Surry / Dominion Michael Fendley – GSE, Director of Operations

  2. Required Simulator Performance Testing • Simulator Operability Testing • Steady State Performance • Transient Performance for a benchmark set of transients • Record of the conduct of test and its evaluation maintained • Simulator Scenario-based Testing (SBT) • Ensures the simulator is capable of producing the expected reference unit response; using scenario validation process to ensure: • Scenario meets predetermined objectives • Scenario includes appropriate instructor interfaces, operator actions, and operator cues • Simulator is capable of producing response without significant discrepancies, or deviation from approved scenario sequence • Data shall be acquired during scenario validation; results documented

  3. GSE Tools • SmartTemplate • Generates the Template used by SmartTest in Attended / Unattended Mode • Template can be customized in Excel after creation • SmartTemplate can import existing batch & CAEP files as well as newly created SmartScenario Files • SmartTest • Performs a single or group of tests • Can be run in attended or unattended mode • Automatically generates reports at completion of tests • SmartScenario • Can import existing batch and CAEP files • Scenario runs during the SmartTest so that user can monitor progress

  4. Use of Automated Tools at Surry • Attended Mode • SBT • Official ANSI Tests – Allows for proper PCS and Panel Switch Check • Any Special test that does not have a specific end time • Non-Attended Mode • Verification Testing on Non-integrated Computer • Multiple ANSI Tests on Non-integrated Computer • Malfunction Testing for Alarm Verification • SBT Automated Report • Quick / Easy / User Friendly • Contains all required components of NEI-09-09 R1 • Use Pre-determined Variable List

  5. Use of Automated Tools at Surry • ANSI Automated Report • Able to look at current year plus 5 Input Baseline Data Sets • Use Pre-determined Variable List • Long and Short report • File Structure • S:\OPENSIM\SIMULATORTESTING • ANSI • SBT • SPECIAL • SWO (SIMULATOR WORK ORDER) • Under each sub-folder • ATS (Automated Test Suites) • Results • TestTemplates
