  9. Coaches Code of Conduct • Remember that you are the role model for your players • Be kind to your parents • Be kind to the coaches and parents of the opposing team • Be kind to the officials • Be realistic with complaints & criticisms • Let the children have fun

  10. Coach Expectations • Establish good ongoing communication • Agenda for practices (warm-up/stretch, skill development, play/scrimmage, cool-down/stretch) • Know rules of play (coaches given these) • Exhibit and model core values • Follow all policies and youth sports philosophy

  11. How Teams Are Formed • By age (1 year, 2 years, 3 years) • By sex (female, male, coed) • By request (for a coach or teammate) • By school • By subdivision • Random assignment • You are able to play up one age division but not down There are no guarantees on requests!

  12. Practice Information Practice Begins the week of March 5th 1 hour practice once per week Practice Sites • Soccer – Sealy Elementary School or TBD by team www.quickscores.com/sealyY

Game Information • Games • Soccer – Saturday mornings • Locations • Soccer – Sealy Elementary School • Everyone should arrive to the game at least 10 minutes prior to warm-up and be ready to start on time • How to cancel or reschedule a game (coach will call the YMCA as well as opposing coach) www.quickscores.com/sealyY

Rainouts/Makeups • Practice rainouts/makeups • Games • Decision will be made by 7:30am on Saturdays • (We will email the coaches, update quickscores and let the Katy Y front desk know) • Decision will either be “all games are cancelled” or “all games are on” • For game rainouts, coaches will be contacted by the YMCA the following week for makeups • We will schedule makeup games and provide officials. If new time does not work for the team/coach it will be up to the coaches to find a new game time! • Games are typically made up during the week.

Officials • Most officials are 16-22 years old • All are trained • YMCA Sports Officials Training • CPR/AED/O2 & 1st Aid Certifications • Any serious problems, coach should address with official in appropriate manner (not a parent), then call YMCA if necessary • Please be courteous • Harassment of officials will not be tolerated • First games are usually the toughest – be kind!

  16. Emergency Procedures • Coach contacts Parent or Guardian Immediately • Make sure you can get a hold of all parents – have correct contact numbers • Accident Reports, Incident Reports • Must fill out and return to Y within 24 hrs

  17. Abandoned Child • Ask all parents to stay at all practices and games. If they leave do following: • Coach will call YMCA for other contact information if they cannot reach parents • Coach will ask the assistant coach or another parent to stay until abandoned child is picked up, if he/she cannot • Last option – two adults drive child to the Katy YMCA

  18. Child Abuse Prevention • We make an active effort to prevent child abuse. These efforts include but are not limited to: • Background checks on staff and volunteers • All coaches are not allowed to start practices until their drivers license have been swiped and their volunteer applications turned in to Sports Director (do not leave application with the front desk, it has personal information on it) • Allegations and suspicions are taken seriously and are reported to the proper authorities

  19. Child Abuse Reporting Procedures • The YMCA has a no tolerance position on child abuse • If you suspect child abuse you can report it to any Director in the YMCA or call CPS (Child Protection Services)

  21. Character Development • Incorporate into practices, games • Coaches can receive some ideas for this • YMCA’s 5 core values: Honesty Caring Respect Responsibility Faith

  22. Pictures, Trophies & Party • Pictures • N the Zone – www.nthezonephotos.com • Coaches will be contacted with picture time • Picture days • TBD - Soccer 3-8 yr olds • Trophies/Medals • Youth Sports – all receive a trophy • End of season party

Roster Corrections • We go through many drafts of team rosters before they are finalized • When we update a roster, we will send you a new one via email • Computer system and changes – what can and can not be changed • Make sure we have your current practice day/place/time We cannot guarantee requests

  24. REFUNDS/CREDITS REFUNDS • FULL refunds will be given if requested prior to the 1st game • NO refunds will be given after this. CREDITS • Partial credits may be given after the 1st games on a case by case basis and must go through the Sports Department.

  25. IMPORTANT DATES • PRACTICES - Begin week of March 5 • FIRST GAME – March 5th • PICTURE DAY – TBA • LAST GAME – May 19th
