  1. Project for the Ecological Development of Buzau’s Hilly Area - ROMANIA Developed by the members of the “Green Club” from “Dr.C.Angelescu” College Buzau, under the direct guidance of teachers Dumitrescu Valeriu, Burducea Gheorghe and Patrascu Madalina from DECEBAL Technical College fromDrobeta Turnu-Severin Pupils participating in this phase of the project:Bandi Adelin,Gheorghe Paul,Mardale Alexandru,Musceleanu Alexandru,Niculae Petru Danut,Puiu Adrian si Ciotirla Catalin,Galetuse Laurentiu,Lupu Florin,Pandaru Razvan from DECEBAL Technical College.

  2. The Project for the Ecological Development of the Hilly Area is structured as it follows : 1)Identifying the hilly areas from Buzau and Mehedinti counties which witness geo-morphological phenomena leading to soil erosion. 2)Identifying economic factors that lead to environmental degradation.

  3. 3)Measures to prevent and fight against soil erosion. 4)Using environmentally friendly sources of energy. • 5)Recycling materials which are not easily bio-degradable.

  4. In order to achieve these goals we intend to carry out individual and group studies, both theoretical and on the field, through trips, scientific expeditions, collecting samples and photographs, presenting, debating and analysing them during the weekly meetings of the Club’s members.

  5. A short economic survey shows that the agricultural use of the land isn’t profitable and that the touristic exploitation of the area would bring in more profit. • Taking this into account, the following measures to be taken come to our attention: -building a fence around the reservation’s area. -ceasing the agricultural exploitation of the area and giving it back its destination of afforested area. -prohibiting grazing. -identifying the ends of the marly or slightly cemented layers in order to establish alignments of small terracing works, helping to fixate more quickly some afforested areas . -planting furry oak, common oak and pine, trees that are to be found in the surrounding area thus proving their adaptation to the area’s particularities. -setting up plantations with trees of both economic value such as Hipophae rhamnoides, and ornamental effect such as Syringa vulgaris and Nitraria schoberi.

  6. The members of the Green Club intend to take the necessary measures at local level as well as forwarding a report to the Parliament in order to establish the necessary juridical framework and to obtain the economic aid needed to put into practice the measures of environmental protection of the area.

  7. The outcomes of the project are the documentary film "Geo morphological  Phenomena“ and the modell realised on a scale of 1:600 for an area of 13,5 hectars in the Piclele Mici area, representing a part of the Muddy Volcano’s reservation and of the weald created by the anticline . On the centre we may identify the volcanic plateau created by the marl’s eruption from the volcano and on the sides broken fragments from the weald’s side that didn’t allow the deepening of the valley. The colours we used are meant to be as close as possible to the Piclele Mici’s landscape. We represented the ravines and the tracks created by rain water in the mud thrown out by the volcanoes creating an impressive landscape.Soil fixation through terracing works and afforestation may be seen in the area around the volcanoes and on the higher slopes around the volcanoes. In order to exploit the area in an environmentally friendly manner we suggest building holiday-homes that use solar energy, wind energy and the hidro-carbonates coming out to the surface. The modell of the house represented on a 1:100 scale uses solar energy provided by photo-voltaic cells.
