  1. Possible Causes and Best Treatment for Neck and Back Pain Neck and Back Pain is a very common medical condition affecting people of middle-aged and old adults. Several factors cause and increase the risk of developing neck and back pain, such as age, muscle strain, and stress. In some cases, chronic neck and back pain can indicate serious underlying injury or illness and require immediate medical attention. Herein, let’s discuss some of the possible causes and best treatment for neck and back pain. Causes of Neck and Back Pain: The neck provides stability, rigidity, and supports the head’s weight, so it can be vulnerable to various injuries and conditions that cause pain. This includes, Muscle strains 

  2. Overuse of neck and back muscles adds pressure on the muscles, which may cause partial or complete tear of muscles. Muscle strains typically occur due to poor posture or being hunched over your computer for too long. Lumbar disc herniation  Lumbar disc herniation is one of the most common causes of neck and lower back pain. The spin disc acting as shock absorbers is vulnerable to various injuries and conditions. In such cases, if a disc herniates, it may irritate nerves nearby, causing sharp, stabbing pain in the neck and back. Lumbar degenerative disc diseases  Degenerative disc disease in the lower back or lumbar spine refers to a condition in which age-related wear and tear on a lumber (spin) disc causes low back pain. Injury  Traumatic injuries such as car accidents or falls can injure ligaments, tendons, or muscles and trigger pain in the neck and back muscles. Nerve compression and other related diseases  As we age, the spinal disc can degenerate and put pressure on the nerves supporting the spine. This, in turn, may cause numbness or radiating pain to the area of the neck and back. Certain diseases, such as meningitis, rheumatoid arthritis, or cancer can cause neck pain. Best Treatment for Neck and Back Pain Treatments for neck and back pain vary, depending on the cause and severity of the pain. Some of the common treatment options for neck and back pain include, Physical therapy  Physical therapy aims at reducing pain and improving the range of neck and back movement. Fortunately, most neck and back are not life-threatening and can be resolved with physical therapy. However, if the pain persists after physical therapy, You may need one or more types of treatment to resolve the underlying problem. Medications  Over-the-counter (OTC) in the form of tablets, sprays are often used to treat mild to moderate neck and back pain. This includes pain killer medication and Nonsteroidal anti- inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen and naproxen. Surgery 

  3. For severe life-threatening cases such as broken neck fractures or spinal cord compression, surgery may be necessary to restore the proper functioning and stability of the neck. Alternate treatments Massage therapy: Helps relieve stress and pain in the muscle. Acupuncture: This is a safe treatment option to relieve neck and back pain.   Source URL-Tumblr
