  4. View Options • Normal View • Default • Enter and edit text • Slide Sorter View • Slides as thumbnails • Shows the flow of the presentation • Move, copy, and delete slides • Slide Show View • On-screen presentation • Escape key to end show

  5. Navigating through Slides • Page Down or Up key • Scroll up or down using scroll arrows, bars, or boxes • Next Slide/Previous Slide button • Click slide thumbnail on the slides tab

  6. Running a Slide Show • Click left mouse button to advance • Page Up or Page Down keys • Click the forward or back navigation buttons at the bottom of slide • Enter key or backspace key

  7. Printing Options • Slides • Default • Prints ALL slides on individual pages • Notes pages • Handouts • 1,2,3,4,6,or 9 slides per page • Outlines • Grayscale, Color, or Pure Black and White

  8. Clip Art • Visually enhances presentations • No more than 3 on each slide • Not for backgrounds • Supports slide content

  9. Slide Transitions • Control the way slides move on and off the screen • Can add to all slides or specific ones • Speed can be changed • Sounds can be added • Can preview

  10. Animations • Visual or sound effects • Related to text and objects • Classified by how subtle or exciting • Can be applied to selected slides or all slides

  11. Effective Presentations • 7x7 Rule • No more than 7 lines per page • No more than 7 words per line • Bulleted format (No paragraphs)

  12. Organize • Presentations should generally consist of: • Title Slide • Objectives: what you want your audience to learn • Body: content of your message • Summary: shortened version of message

  13. Use Bullets Fonts • Should be 18-48 • Usually 18-24+ for text & 32+ for headers • No more than 3 fonts per presentation FONT SIZE Can you read this well? (11pt) How about this? (16pt) And now? (24pt) And now? (36pt) • Use short phrases rather than sentences • Highlight the main ideas • Do not include entire script in presentation
