Community Involvement School Noon Feeding committee consisting of : • PTA President, • Members of Mother PTA, • Ward Member, • Head of the institution, • Teacher’s representatives PRI is involved in monitoring the implementation.   30. Proposal for Construction of Kitchen-cum-Store *PAB 2011-12, has approved 2673 kitchen-cum-store, however, the State did not submit the proposal, hence funds could not be released. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

  32. MI Report for Kollam, Kottayam, Kozhikode, and Thiruvananthapuram Districts • MDM was not served to children for first 5 days of the academic year. The schools have commenced the MDM programme only after the official enrolment verification on the 6th working day in the school year. • MDM is not served to children during the annual examinations. • The schools receive the first installment of cooking cost in the month of August. • The children have not received any micronutrients (Iron, folic acid, vitamin-A dosage) and de-worming medicine. • No school maintains Health Card for its children. • Pucca kitchen sheds are available only in 28% in Kollam,11% In Kottayam, 8% in Kozhikode and in 28% in Thiruvananthapuram.

  33. Recommendations of the Review Mission • Setting up of Management Structure at State, Districts, Sub-districts levels. • Deeper review of the construction of kitchen- cum-stores to ensure creation of infrastructure facilities. • Submission of proposal to the GOI for construction of kitchen-cum-store and procurement of kitchen devices in Govt. aided pvt. Schools in this financial year. • Rationalization of engagement of cook-cum-helper based on the strength and workload of the school. • Rationalization of fund flow by reducing the intermediate levels

  34. ISSUES • No assistance to Govt. aided private schools for • construction of kitchen-cum-store and procurement of • kitchen devices. • Low coverage of working days. • Less engagement of cook-cum-helper. • No information on School Health Programme. • Very Slow progress on construction of kitchen cum • stores. • No SSMC meetings. • Very low MME utilisation. • Very few inspections.
