  1. We all want the best out of our jewelry, no matter what price. We get asked this question all the time. I thought it would be helpful to share some information about the various types of jewelry and tips and tricks on how to care for them. Let's begin with the various types of gold. These are the most common types of gold jewelry you will find: best gold vermeil jewelry (gold plated), gold filled, and Vermeil jewelry (gold filled). Here's how it works: Gold plating: A layer of gold or gold is applied to a base metal, such as brass. The base metal is used and the gold is applied to the outside. There is no gold within the piece. Because quality is our #1 priority, we use 5x more gold plating on our gold-plated pieces. Gold Vermeil: This is sterling silver that has been expertly coated with a thick layer gold. This is where the base must be made of sterling silver. These pieces are ideal for people who have allergies or sensitive skin to base metals. Gold-filled jewelry is around 100 percent more gold than jewelry that has been gold-plated and has a higher resistance to tarnish. This is achieved by bonding gold and another base metal together, so the whole piece is covered in gold. It won't rust or change color. It is an economical alternative to solid gold jewelry. This kind of gold is very easy to maintain and can last a lifetime. Solid Gold: This is the most expensive form of gold in terms of purity. It is too soft to wear every day so pure gold is mixed with other metals to increase its strength and durability. Karatage is a measure of how pure the gold is. For example, 18kt Gold is 75% gold and 14kt Gold is 58%. CARE How can I make sure my piece is in its best condition? Gold Plated and vermeil gold jewelry: It is best to keep it dry and out of contact with any skin products. It can be taken off for a shower but not worn swimmingly. Avoid contact with creams and lotions. To prevent moisture from entering the air, keep it in a bag. Gold-filled: It is fine to shower with gold-filled jewelry. Get it wet and wear it for the rest of your life. It is best to remove it in salt water and chlorine. It is okay to wear it while you use basic lotions. However, it should be removed when you apply any strong products such as retinol, skin peels, or glycolic acid. Solid Gold: This is a very simple item that requires little care. To keep it looking new, give it a quick wipe with a jewelry brush once in a while.
