The founders included speech protections in the bill of rights because the British had the censored political debate and speech for so long. • The first amendment protects for ways for citizens to participate in the public exchange of ideas. • The freedom to express opinions gives groups a chance to persuade others of their position. • Free speech also ensures the government serves the people as best it can. The supreme court has worked to shed the light on the meaning of freedom of speech over the past century • Although the founders understood speech as referring mainly to political discussion, the court’s definition of “ speech” has broadened into “expression”. • The founders had great resolve to encourage political debate and the sharing of ideas. Free speech must be balance against the need to protect the society. • Buy having common sense to not yell out fire in a movie theater, nor to tee the cashier “I have a gun, give me the money.” or to falsely say to a kid that his parents died. • The government always have to be part of our life’s telling us what to say or do. How the government regulate freedom of speech.

The dangers to not having freedom of speech. • We wouldn’t be as advance, have no right to be a better country, like having order just order, like by every single rule that is made. • There will be no democracy or republic just be control over the people. What are the dangers for freedom of speech. (if we didn’t have it)
