  7. So what can we do? – technology… • Free and easy • Kids know best • Find the staffroom geek -

  8. Learning Intentions • By the end of this session we: • Must understand everything about ICT in languages • Should be able to implement a whole new departmental approach to ICT by break time next Tuesday • Could do with a drink and a lie down

  9. No really… • By the end of this session we: • Must take just one idea and try it in school • Should see that ICT can be simple and effective • Could share our ideas with others in the faculty

  10. ICT for ICT’s sake • MFL teachers are already very good at using images, flashcards, OHTs and PowerPoint (PowerfulPoint or PowerPointlessness?) • How do we engage the pupils in using ICT in MFL? • Is ICT best used as process or product or both?

Some practical ideas… Always remember that ICT is a tool and can be part of the assessment for learning process as well as being great for creating product - videos, PowerPoints, Podcasts… • Here are three questions you need to ask yourself when planning ICT: • Do I need to use ICT? • What will ICT add to my pupils’ understanding? • What do I do when it all goes wrong?

In order to remove all of the spaces from a piece of text in Word, go to Edit - Replace. In the “Find what” box press the space bar once. Leave the “Replace with” box blank. Then press replace all. Voilà!

  16. WWW • L’été dernier je suis allé en France avec ma famille. Nous sommes allés en voiture et nous avons pris le ferry aussi. Le voyage dans la voiture était un peu long, mais la mer était calme et le ferry était rapide. Pendant le voyage, j’ai écouté de la musique et aussi j’ai mangé un sandwich au jambon. J’aime le jambon, c’est délicieux! La prochaine fois, je prendrai du poulet et des frites……….

  18. A freeware programme that allows students to record themselves and export this as an MP3 or .wav file. This can then be listened to on an i-pod, mp3 player or cut onto CD. Just imagine students learning their oral presentations on the bus with their i-pod…or their phones… A*
