  1. Theme Postcards • On the lined side, write a letter to yourself from the main character, Tom Vincent. • The first paragraph should be an objective summary of the story. (4-8 sentences) • The second paragraph should analyze the theme, stating what the character learned and explaining it with TWO specific details from the story. (4-8 sentences) • On the blank side, create a visually appealing picture of the story.

  2. Touching Spirit BearExample • Ms. Clark, • I recently spent some time alone on an island in Alaska. I was exiled there as a result of my anger issues. While there, I tried to attack a bear, but he tore me apart instead. As a result, I had to lay on the forest floor through a terrible storm. • From my experience, I learned that nature is a dangerous and powerful force. I thought that I could take on a giant bear, but I was wrong. I also saw a forest ripped apart by a mighty thunderstorm. • Cole Matthews
