  2. November 19, 2014 • God’s name is holy. • God’s name is revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14 as “IAM”. • His name was so holy to the Hebrew people that they did not speak it.

  3. November 19, 2014 • God’s name is holy. • God’s name, like every name, conveys the reality of His very being.

  4. November 19, 2014 • The Second Commandment calls us to holiness of thought and speech. It: • Calls us to revere God and know the difference between Creator and creature. • Calls us to intimacy with God, who became Incarnate in Jesus.

  5. November 19, 2014 • The Second Commandment calls us to holiness of thought and speech. It: • Recalls our Baptism, in which we are baptized in the name of the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

  6. November 19, 2014 • The Second Commandment forbids the wrong use of God’s name, including: • Blasphemy, using the name of God, of our Lord Jesus, of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints in an offensive manner. • Vulgar language.
