  2. Background Measuring Human Observers • Radiography now operates and displays images in a digital environment • Image interpretation (at varying levels) is undertaken by a variety of professional groups • Many variables based upon technology

  3. Background Measuring Human Observers • Image interpretation predominantly relies upon a human observer • Complex issues surround this • Intra and inter observer variability • Establishing the ‘truth’ on an image • Confidence of decision, search patterns etc.

  4. Informing pre-registration training Measuring Human Observers • Important that UG students are able to understand basic concepts and interpret the results in literature • Programme of events in project skills to introduce and develop concepts • Encourage dissertations in this area

  5. Research Interests Measuring Human Observers • Measuring accuracy of image interpretation • The effect of changing variables on image interpretation scores • Measuring the confidence of decisions made • Measuring the perceived confidence of decision conveyed
