  6. In English we can say: • Jean gives Marie the flowers. • Jean gives the flowers to Marie. In French there is only one way to say this: Jean donne les fleurs à Marie.

  7. Direct Objects Her>la l’ Him>le l’ Them>les Indirect Objects (to) her>lui (to) him>lui (to) them>leur Pronouns for direct and indirect objects are NOT the same in the third person. Jean sees her. Jean la voit. Jean gives her the flowers. Jean lui donne les fleurs.
