  2. Moses Austin's dying request was to have his son Stephen F. Austin take over the venture.

  3. Remember, Stephen F. Austin is trying to convince people to move from the U.S. to Texas (Mexico)

  4. Now, we are going to compare the advertisements that I asked you to bring.

  5. We are going to compare what the ads have in common. How do they try to convince people to buy the product?  What are some of the major differences in the styles of the ads? Is there fine print in some of the ads?

  6.   The theme of the infomercial is "Come Buy Land In Texas (Mexico)".  Stephen F. Austin hired you to produce an infomercial trying to convince Americans to buy land in and move to Texas (Mexico).

  7. The infomercial you come up with needs to last about 3 minutes. You will perform the infomercial live in front of the class.

  8. So, for example a typical infomercial would tell that Texas land in Mexico is being sold.  The exact location would be mentioned, along with the advantages of moving to Texas.  Since it is an ad, a price would be mentioned.  Also, maybe towards the end of the infomercial the students mighty include the disclaimer (fine print) and talk really fast. You will need to be creative in the way they convey this information.

  9. MAJOR:  50 pts- Correct information on buying land in Texas (Mexico)30 pts.- Creativity20 pts.-Showmanship- (Smooth delivery, non silliness)
