  6. What mode isVirgo associated with?

  7. Mutable

  8. What do we know about Mutable? Concerned with changing things into something else. Virgo is critical and analytical. Virgo brings to an end something which was previously believed.

  9. What element isVirgo associated with?

  10. Earth

  11. What do we know about Earth? possessed and owned attainable organized and predictable

  12. What else about Earth? cautious, premeditative, conventional and dependable builders

  13. So what happens when we put the element of earth together with the mode of mutable?

  14. We get Virgo! • As the sixth sign of the zodiac, Virgo represents the sixth stage in the evolution of man and his place in the universe. • The Virgo need is … to find ways to put man’s individual talents to the best possible use. • the need to make things better is satisfied by pursuing careers in health-related fields or in other areas such as teaching, labor relations, environmental protection, social work, or religious counseling.

  15. This trait is a strength because it is a survival mechanism, and a weakness because it makes them vulnerable to the demands and influence of other people. Virgos adapt to change. Instinctively responsive to the needs of others, they usually adapt to different people and changing circumstances by finding ways to make themselves useful. The Virgin is the astrological symbol of Virgo and, like the true virgin, most Virgos are shy. Like a virgin waiting to give herself to the perfect lover, Virgos are also idealistic.

  16. If the advantages they find are not necessarily useful to them, they are willing to give them to those who can benefit. They patiently endure endless details and responsibilities if convinced it accomplishes an end they think justifies their efforts. How do the elements react? Virgos are effective negotiators. Virgos react to what they experience by assessing its practical worth. Before they take physical action, before they sort out their emotional involvement, and before they reason it out intellectually, they must ascertain what tangible advantages are to be gained from the experience.

  17. Virgo’s Astrological Symbol Virgo’s symbol is the virgin, and is often considered a shy, “lady in waiting” personality that is a little naive. Though Virgos are seldom celibate, they often keep their personal identity intact throughout their lives. This composure is virginal in nature. Virgo’s symbol is sometimes shown as a woman carrying a sheaf of wisdom, representing the harvesting of wheat at the time of year of the Virgo (late summer).

  18. Virgo’s Constellation

  19. Virgo’s Constellation

  20. Virgo’s Astrological Glyph  The glyph for Virgo is thought to depict the sexual organs, with a tail that wraps inwards, closing itself to the world. This, in contrast to the symbol for Scorpio, which is similar, except that the tail points outward and upward in an arrow.

  21. The Virgo Myth Virgo The Great Goddess, the Magna Mater.

  22. She represents the nurturer and giver of life to all of life. She is self-possessed, her own person. She ruled alone, self-contained, husbandless. The ultimate goal of this apparently humble sign is nothing less than the self-possessed psyche. The person who integrated within himself and thus can give freely because he need not fear losing himself in another.

  23. … from his own place of completeness, rather than because his need for finding himself in another drives him into relationships or situations which destroy him or rule him. …this seems to be almost a requirement for Virgo to develop himself or herself. … something in them says that you must learn to be yourself and love your own company before you can allow another person to love you.

  24. Virgo in its deepest sense is about the real synthesis and integration of the individual. Virgo contains all the stages of individual development. It’s one of the reasons you find so many Virgos obsessed with health and diet, and equally many obsessed with psychology and self-help.  It’s the need to prepare the vessel, to craft it, shape it, refine it, for some vaguely sensed next phase …

  25. The Goddess as self-contained nurturer of life is a fitting and noble image for this underplayed sign.

  26. Every Virgo, in some way, little or big, is an alchemist. Alchemical gold isn’t ordinary gold. It’s transmuted substance, inner gold, spiritual gold, creative gold. This laborious process of transmutation goes on throughout Virgo’s life. Virgo is attempting the alchemical transformation. It’s life. And life, ultimately, is himself.

  27. We’ll now mention some of the challenges of Virgo. Remember though we are talking about the energy of Virgo and there are many types of energy.

  34. Each sign represents a different aspect of man’s development. This is the story of the individual Christ, crucified upon the cross of matter, and incarnated in each human being, God, incarnate in matter. The Labours of Hercules The Labours of Hercules was written in 1936 by Alice Bailey wherein Hercules needs to complete 12 tasks – one in each sign.

  35. The Labour in Virgo Seizing the Girdle of Hippolyte

  36. Interpretation of the myth Isis Virgin Mary Eve Womb of Time

  37. The goddess of Virtue or of Vice Further Comments At first he fares badly His mishandling of the feminine principle is ultimately redeemed by his deed of love in saving Hesione.

  38. Those who first put foot on the spiritual path often consider the body the root of all evil. But this is not so … … for the purpose of human incarnation is to redeem matter … to raise it into heaven through the birth and rule of the Christ consciousness.

  39. The disciple in Virgo demonstrates an understanding of the feminine principle of nature … symbolized by Mary, pictured with the moon under her feet and the one to be known as the Prince of Peace, in her arms. (See Revelations: 12:1-2)
