Strengthen the Nuclear Enterprise • The Air Force must maintain a modern, reliable, and highly capable strategic nuclear force able to deter aggression, promote stability, and provide extended protection to our allies and friends • The nation needs a secure and reliable strategic nuclear forces and a strong and secure nuclear infrastructure. AFA urges support for improvement of our nuclear deterrent; applauds commitments to extend the service life of ICBMs & bombers and To produce a future long-range strike bomber

AFA as a Professional Org • Capt Dan Whalen, CGO Subcommittee • CMSgt Katie McCool, Enlisted Subcommittee • Mission for this Year • Develop and articulate the value message to uniformed members • Why should airmen think of AFA as their professional organization? • Messaging to Junior Officer and Enlisted • Send a welcome AFA message through CGOC • Publish more articles/columns on what AFA is and what it does • Correct message is a struggle for AFA: It requires face-to-face discussion and dialogue to figure out an individual’s value standard •  Company Grade Officer message on AFA • Value to uniformed members (ex: Financial Planning Forums) 8

CGO Subcommittee • Focused on exploring ways to make a personal connection with their target audience: those about to commission & junior officers • Membership engagement with Arnold Air Cadets • Talked with them about AFA’s benefits and officer development • Juniors and Seniors offered a 3-year membership for $45 • 20 Cadets joined and their accounts showthey joined at NATCON • In July, the subcommittee mailed each one a personally signed letter welcoming them to AFA, reminding them to update their address, contact their local chapter, and the importance of becoming an ACTIVE member • 50+ CGOs personally invited to attend thisConference • Impromptu social with AFA leadership • Connecting CGOs & AFA leadership when visiting AF bases • First lunch will take place in October at MinotAFB with Gen Newton Personal connection and follow-up

Enlisted Subcommittee • Focused on exploring ways to make a personal connection with their target audience: junior enlisted through senior enlisted • Engaging with former Outstanding Airmen of the Year • Plug them into local chapter events if stationed there or nearby • Engaging current Outstanding Airmen of the Year • Using their time on the council to address AFA needs in the enlisted force Personal connection and follow-up

Year of the Community Partner • Tommy Carson/Ken Spencer • 9 Chapters met the challenge • 1 Community Partner a month (9 Total) • Lot of work done 2011-12 • Program announced at National Convention…CP guide forwarded to field • Execution issues • Face of “Year of the Community Partner” (Like Bernie for CyberPatriot) • Emphasis at all levels of AFA • Lessons learned on running a campaign 1818 11

Capability of the Field 73 of 202 chapters are meeting minimum member recruitment requirements .75% and/or 1.5% • 741 new members when all chapters meet their .75% goal • 1482 new members when all chapters meet their 1.5% • .75% & 1.5% goal added to membership reports Chapter health to support recruiting/retention

Decisions for Board • Approve the following addition to the AFA Constitution and formation of the Constitution Committee during the coming operating year to amend governing documents as necessary (⅔ vote of Board required): ARTICLE IV, MEMBERSHIP Section 2. Dues. Membership dues shall be paid in such amounts as shall be determined by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the delegates at a National Convention or by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Board of Directors, provided that any change in dues made by the Board of Directors shall be subject to amendment or ratification by the delegates at the following National Convention. Dues for the category of virtual (electronic) membership shall be set at an amount not to exceed one-half (½) of the established annual dues for the Association.
