  2. Patricia Brune • YWCA of Greater Kansas City • Volunteer with YWCA for 4 years • Active board member & Chair of the YWCA Personnel Committee • Presently acting as Interim Executive Director in a volunteer capacity

  3. Kay Clayton • Mental Health America of the Heartland • Volunteer with MHAH since May 2007 • Helps callers through peer support by sharing her own experiences and meets one-on-one with them • Participates in staff and board meetings via teleconference

  4. Tom Cooley • Boy Scouts of America, Heart of America Council • Volunteer with Boy Scouts for 20 years • Served as an advancement chairman to guide young men toward their eagle scout • Supports fundraisers to provide opportunities to kids who might not otherwise have the chance to join Boy Scouts

  5. Boys & Girls Clubs • of Greater KC • • Co-chaired fundraising committee of the Wyandotte Advisory Council • • Supports the youth program “Dress for Success” through clothing donations and one-on-one mentoring (among many other programs) • • Volunteer with BGCGKC for 5 years Michelle Franks-Smith

  6. Cancer Action • Volunteer with Cancer Action for 20 years, totaling 23,676 hours, which equals almost 3 years of time • Member of Cancer Action’s largest service unit, Gladstone AARP 2970, making bed pads Helen Gibson

  7. American Red Cross: Wyandotte County Chapter • Volunteer with American Red Cross for 3 ½ years • Duties range from cleaning gutters, shoveling snow, answering phones (helps he’s bilingual), assists in disaster relief and other special events and campaigns • Now works for Red Cross through a work program offered at his high school, Cristo Rey Bryan Gutierrez

  8. Duchesne Clinic • Volunteer with Duchesne for 5 years • Works in the Medication Assistance Program to provide prescriptions and much needed medications • Developed a template to track and record values of medical donations and prescriptions Sister Jean Highberger

  9. Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas • Volunteer with Catholic Charities for 7 years • Shared a full-time staff position with 10 other volunteers as the administrative assistant • Helped clients needing emergency assistance money for rent, utilities, food and other necessities • She was a dedicated volunteer and treated clients with dignity and respect In Loving Memory of Julie MayneAugust 1,1946 – February 17, 2009

  10. Economic Opportunity Foundation • Volunteer with EOF Southside CAP for 3 years • Assists in customer relationship management by acting as a liaison for EOF with its customers on the phone and updating customer databases Joyce Molina

  11. Ozanam • Volunteer with Ozanam for 2 years • Dedicated 1,000 hours to create a brand new website for Ozanam, making it more streamlined and user-friendly • Developed an online strategy and presence to match Ozanam’s mission • Became an officer in the Ozanam Guild Tyson Moore

  12. YouthBuild KCK • Volunteer with YouthBuild for the past year • Teaches YouthBuild trainees community gardening • Demonstrates the importance of advocacy for community change to the trainees • Teaches trainees local history as a recognized historian • Introduced “Who I Am Makes a Difference” program to instill hope in youth in KCK Chester Owens

  13. KVC Behavioral Health Care • Volunteer with KVC for 14 years • Supports many programs in many ways, especially by spending time with the kids • Regularly donates items: books, clothes, games and toys • Through outside resources and contacts, David created KVC’s Halloween Carnival and has provided kids Easter baskets, too David Pierson

  14. Mt. Carmel Redevelopment Corporation • Volunteered with MCRC since she was a teenager • Assists with daily office operations and duties • Helps distribute groceries to families and individuals by participating with the Mobile Food Pantry Anissa Reed

  15. CASA for Children of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties • Volunteer with CASA for 3 years • Advocates for children served by the agency • Monitors the care of appointed children within the foster care system • Assesses children's needs and communicates that info to the court system • Her last case extended over 2 years Betty Robinson

  16. Associated Youth Services • Volunteer with AYS for 3 years • Serves as the Board Treasurer and Chair of the Audit Committee • Recruits sponsorships and solicits for donations for special events and fundraisers (last year she brought in 1/3 of the auction items singlehandedly) • Also helps with various events such as the KCK Art Walks Stephanie Spilker

  17. Sunflower House • Volunteer with Sunflower House for the past year • A member of The Friends of Sunflower House Volunteer group • Dresses up as Happy Bear and interacts with kids • Assists in special events such as the Valentine Gala (he brought in the most items for the silent auction) Mitch Stevenson

  18. El Centro, Inc. • Volunteer with El Centro for 2 years • Assists the IT Director with repairing and updating computers • Organizes various fundraising events for the senior programs • He even gets the party started as the DJ for special events and birthdays James Taylor

  19. Bethel Neighborhood Center • Volunteer with Bethel for 1 year • Teaches 14-19 year olds financial literacy, cooking, art projects and leads them in community service • Through one-on-one mentorships, she helps kids reach their full potential Phyllis Towne

  20. Big Brothers Big Sister of Kansas City • Volunteer as a “Big” with BBBS for 1 year • Mentors his “Little” who is 13 years old • They enjoy Frisbee golf, fishing and hanging out together • They hang out a few hours every week Clayton Westgate
