  3. FISHERMEN ISRAEL CONTROLS THE PALESTINIAN TERRRITORIAL WATERS FROM DEC 08 TO NOVEMBER 2012 IMPOSED A 3 MILE LIMIT INCREASED TO 6 MILES IN NOVEMBER 2012, BUT SINCE MARCH 2013 BACK TO 3 MILES ISRAEL HAVE DESTROYED PORTS, BOATS, NETS/FISHING EQUIPMENT

IMPACT ON THE FISHING COMMUNITY IN THE GAZA STRIP DUE TO THE ATTACKS AT SEA, THE FISHING LIMITS, AND A BAN ON EXPORTS, THE NUMBER OF WORKING FISHERMEN HAS FALLEN FROM 10,000 IN 1999 TO 3,200 TODAY, DRAMATICALLY AFFECTING THE LIVELIHOODS OF 39,000 DEPENDENTS. THE 3,200 FISHERMEN WHO ARE STILL WORKING PROVIDE FOR THE LIVELIHOOD OF 19,200 DEPENDENTS

VIOLATIONS FISHING EXCLUSION AND BUFFER ZONE CONSTITUTE COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT AND A VIOLATION OF THE RIGHT TO WORK UNDER ARTICLE 6 & 7 OF THE INTERNATIONAL COVENANT ON ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL RIGHTS (ICESCR) DENIES FARMERS AND FISHERMEN THE RIGHT TO SUSTAIN AND FEED THEMSELVES (ARTICLE 11 OF THE ICESCR) AND ARTICLE 24(2) (c)CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD

  6. AGRICULTURE ISRAEL HAS UNILATERALLY IMPOSED A ‘BUFFER ZONE’ ALONG THE BORDER, OFFICIALY EXTENDS 300 METRES INTO STRIP IN REALITY CAN EXTEND TO 1,500 METRES FROM THE FENCE, IMPOSED WITH LETHAL FORCE

  7. PRIOR TO CLOSURE PRODUCED OVER 400,000 TONS OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS ANNUALLY, ONE THIRD FOR EXPORT 5,000 FARMERS EXPORTING GOODS DUE TO INABLITY TO EXPORT 40% DROP IN INCOME FOR FARMERS IN 2008 ALONE LOST $US 6.8 MILLION
