  2. POWER: AS MANY SEE IT • Most people associate power with the crude domination of other people. • It is also portrayed by unethical people who exploit others. • Corruption!

THE FEW DEFINITIONS OF POWER • Physical, emotional or mental strength to accomplish something. • Energy that is produced by mechanical, electrical, or other means and used to operate a device. • (Oxford Dictionaries, Online). • The ability to influence the behaviour of other people. (Greiner & Schein, 1988)

  4. THE DIFFERENT SOURCES OF POWER • Knowledge • Money & Finance • Legally Granted Power • Love • Personal Power • Charisma

  5. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER • Many have heard this quote! • The scenario of the guy disarming the bomb! • Why do people listen to him? • Why is knowledge important?

  6. CHARISMA & PEOPLE • Charismatic people are influential people! • They are likeable! • What makes a person charismatic? • Vision Leadership Personal Power Passion Faith

  7. PERSONAL POWER • Unshakable Self Confidence is the key! • The ability to forgive yourself and move on! • Change your thoughts, you change your world! • Passion • UnwaveringFaith • Vision & Goals

PERSUASION • Persuasion is a process aimed at changing a person's (or a group's) attitude or behaviour toward some event, idea, object, or other person(s), by using written or spoken words to convey information, feelings, or reasoning, or a combination thereof. FEAR • Fear is good for it motivates us to avoid harm! • Rightly fearing the disapproval of admirable people. • Draw inspiration from the powerful! • What would a world without fearing other people look like? • The downside of fear: • Intimidation Awareness of Weaknesses Jealousy Resentment Disempowerment

CREATIVE POWER • The ability to excel and generate that same excellence in others. • A powerful person amplifies their scope of influence. • The people’s power, an extensionof their leader’s vision. • Empowering people! Mentoring people! • Pride in other people’s accomplishments • Build People, Build Institutions.

  11. CHANGE THE WORLD • The world is constantly changing! • People are constantly changing! • There is more than enough good to go around. • There is still so much more improvements to make! • Take Baby Steps! • Youth Jobs Poverty War Technology Environment Economy HumanRights
