Business Travel • Business Travel: For the sole purpose of conducting business. • Business Traveler Needs: • Different from leisure travelers • Travel during the week • Involve multiple destinations • Want efficiency and economical • Special amenities (data ports, high speed internet) • Business Travel Challenges: • Different time zones • Unfamiliar destinations • Language and cultural barriers

  4. Business Travel • Business Travelers Incentives: • Frequent-flyer miles • Business or first-class airline seats • Favored treatment at car rentals and hotels

Meeting Planner • Person who organizes and plans a meeting • Responsibilities • Find a site for the meeting • Arrange for travel to, from, and around the meeting site • Coordinate meeting space, hotel rooms, and meals • Schedule speakers and multimedia services • Handle registration • Also could plan incentive travel trips for company employees who meet a certain goal

  6. Pleasure Travel • Going to visit family and friends • Leisure Travel - travel for the sole purpose of enjoyment • Places for pleasure travel vary, depending on the motives of the travelers.

  7. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs According to Maslow, we need to fill basic needs before we can move up the pyramid to higher needs.
